Preserving the Past:
The Cadillac Tower, built in 1927, was the first building outside of New York and Chicago to have 40 floors, making it one of the tallest buildings in the nation at the time. In 1928 the original Detroit Historical Museum opened on the 23 rd floor of the Cadillac Tower. (The building was then called the "Barlum Tower.") In addition to being one of the tallest buildings in America, the Historical Museum was billed as the "Highest Museum in the World."
With architecture taken mostly from the Chicago pages, the Cadillac tower has proved adaptable to the city of Detroit for nearly 100 years. As a city landmark, boasting ever changing murals of Detroit Athletes and hometown advertisements, the Cadillac Tower Building is a premier location for business in Detroit. Anchoring Cadillac Square in Renaissanced Downtown Detroit, the Cadillac Tower continues to be in the front line of premier real estate in Detroit.
